Collodion du jour - 58

Every photographer has to take at least one photograph of a pear. Here is my collodion version.

I am happy with the composition, which is a good thing because I didn't get a second chance...
After I took this photographs, I processed the plate as usual and got my chemicals ready for the next picture. By the time I finished my preparation and went back outside (where I was shooting), I couldn't find my pears. They had disappeared!
Well they had only partly disappeared... in the mouths of a couple squirrels!!!
They went right for my only red pear.

Since then, I have been pondering the example of my wife's Grandpa who used to capture the squirrels that ventured on his property, showered them with a bucket of cold water, painted their tails blue and released them in a nearby city park. If they dared to come back, they were easily spotted and met their final, terrible fate... Anyhow I like the idea of painting squirrels tails in bright colors, it would make the neighborhood that much more interesting.

Elaiza.

Although this is not the best photograph of Elaiza, I couldn't resist posting it. Such a beautiful smile!

Collodion du jour - 45

Untitled from "A collection of somewhat random specimens".
The Colorado prairie is full of delicate and beautiful grass. A simple pleasure in life is for me to walk in the foothills near Denver and Boulder and find the treasures that are offered for everyone to see, but most often stay ignored.
I loved the way the setting sun revealed the intricacy of this grass and made it stand out in the open fields. I tried to capture its beauty, back at home...

Collodion du jour - 41

In my exploration of Four Mile Canyon, I discovered on an old railroad track that lead me from the town site of Gold Hill to the community of Sunset. It was a beautiful path but quite an adventurous route for my trusty Toyota Sienna. It took me a good hour to cover the four miles of trail...

Collodion du jour - 32

Ghostly tree.
My landscape collodion photographs have not been quite as successful as I had hoped, but here is one I am happy with...
Hopefully, I will figure a way to get decent photographs of Colorado. It is gorgeous here all year round, but fall is especially beautiful and enjoyable.

Collodion du jour - 31

Fresh Bread.

Here is the secret to my survival away from France: I bake fresh bread two to three times a week. This allows me to keep up with the diet I grew up on: bread, butter and some combination of the two.
Every once in a while, I also indulge with red wine and goat cheese...
You gotta do what you gotta do!
