Collodion du jour - 309

Berlingots.
In the past each region in France had its culinary specialties, so you find a lot of food items named after the place they were traditionally produced at. These are Berlingots Nantais, candies from my Hometown: Nantes. They have a distinctive shape and come in a variety of flavors, from orange and lemon to mint and liquorice.

Collodion du jour - 308

Fleur de Sel de Noirmoutier.
I am back from France with a few goodies. This is the best salt you can ever find: Fleur de sel from an island off the cost of Vendee in France, called Noirmoutier. We went there for the day, visited the salt fields and swam in the cold but beautiful sea. Noirmoutier is now connected to the mainland by an impressive bridge, but in the past you had to take a boat or drive over a road only available at low tide, called Le Gois. We took Le Gois on our way back and stopped in the middle to collect palourdes (a type of shellfish) by digging with our hands in the mud. What fun! And the palourdes tasted great too.

Happy 4th of July!

Hello all, I am traveling to France for a couple weeks and am unable to take my camera with me. So you will be able to enjoy a little break from your daily collodion photograph. I will make up for lost time when I come back. Stay tuned! In the meantime, have a great independence day! Denis
