My daughters and I have been trying to expand our scientific horizon by doing home science experiments. We've made paper planes, We built a camera, and made our own rock candy. This is our latest concoction.

Welcome

I have decided to engage in an ambitious photographic project: create 365 wet-platecollodion photograph within a year (the equivalent of one image per day), starting September 1st 2010. I would like to invite you to follow me on the journey, look at the photographs and post comments if you so desire.

I have discovered collodion photography a while back when exploring the work of Mark Sink and Kristen Hatgi, two denver-based photographers. For the very beginning I was enthralled with the very unique appearance of collodion photographs. I especially enjoyed the marks and artifacts created during the process and the element of chance intrinsic to a photographic method very difficult to control. All this resonated with the aesthetic I was pursuing while manipulating negatives and slide film ( see the Natures Mortes and Feuilles Sentimentales series). It took me however almost two years before I entered the world of collodion practioners.
I have in fact only started experimenting with this very old technique a couple weeks ago. Although I am happy with the results I have gotten so far (see below), I am aware the road ahead is long and paved with challenges and probable deceptions. However my enthusiasm is fresh and growing, which leads me into this adventure.
